How to Find the Right Compostable Bag for You

  1. The size of your collection container or how many gallons your compost bin is.
  2. What you are going to collect.  Is it heavy or contain sharp objects?

What does "mil" mean?  MIL is the gauge or thickness of the plastic.  Natur-Tec® compostable bags are available in the following gauge:

  • 0.8 Mil is medium duty.  It can hold a few pounds of objects without rough edges
  • 1 Mil is a heavy duty thickness and can hold many gallons of trash with rough edges, but sharp edges are not recommended
  • 1.25 Mil is an extra tough duty thickness designed for heavy yard and lawn waste that may have some sharp objects such as sticks and branches
